5 Reasons to Call in Your Electrician

The electrical components in your house sometimes give you tell-tale signs that they are struggling, and other times they just stop working, leaving you in the dark with your favourite ice cream slowly defrosting. To help you decide when it’s time to call your electrician, we’ve come up with a list of common scenarios that will require expert help.

Do your lights flicker?

Yes, flickering lights are common place in horror movies, but if your lights are flickering the reason is generally a little less sinister. A loose wire is usually the cause, and whilst you might begrudge calling in an electrician for a small problem, it’s better than leaving it until the issue gets worse and more expensive.

Do your electrics trip when you turn the iron on?

It might be time to call in the electricians. An underlying fault can cause regular tripping with your electricals. Call in your local electrician to correct the issue before it gets worse.

Are your light switches hot?

If your light switches heat up when turning on and off your lights, you might want to seek the advice of your electrician. If left undiagnosed the switches could start giving you shocks due to the excess current in the circuits.

Are you lacking power points?

Many years ago, housing planners didn’t take into consideration the power needs of the modern age. Only 15 – 20 years ago you would not have seen iPads, iPhones and iPods being charged every evening. Due to the lack of power points, many people overload their power boards. Talk to your electrician about adding more power points to your home to ensure there is no excessive pressure on your current electrical system.

Have your lights have gone out?

Yes, the fault that you left and left has finally given up and the lights are out in your home. To avoid spoiling all the food in the fridge freezer, call your local electrician and get the issue rectified.

Electrical safety is of paramount importance. Electrics are dangerous and if misused can be potentially fatal. It’s important to call your electrician if there are any issues with your electrical system to avoid any nasty accidents.
